The project about HTS current lead has been support by The National High Technology Research and Development Program of China

The National High-Tech R&D Program of China (863 Program) has supported the project that applied by the Institutes of Plasma Science and Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The title of this project is Study on High Current Density HTS Bus Bar and Its Application in Current Lead. As the partner of this project, InnoST will develop a new kind of low thermal conductivity Ag-Au alloy sheathed Bi-2223 wire with high current density, and participate in the design and fabrication of HTS current lead.


Background information on HTS current lead:
In a superconducting magnet system, the conventional vapor cooled copper current leads, working in the temperature range from 4.2 K to room temperature, carry high current and result in a large portion of heat loads for the cryogenic system. HTS ceramic combines low thermal conductivity with the ability to carry current without resistive loss at temperatures up to 100 K, and so offer the possibility of reducing the refrigeration power and operational costs.
